Spring Track: Day 1 -- POSTPONED UNTIL MONDAY, 3/9

I can't believe Spring Track and Field starts tomorrow and we have had 2 snow days in a row!

PRACTICE WILL BEGIN MONDAY, MARCH 9.  CHECK BACK THIS WEEKEND FOR UPDATES.

FamilyID.  Many of our spring track and field sign ups are not cleared yet.  Expect that you might be held out of practice unless you get your paperwork and e-forms completed and cleared.  It is YOUR responsibility to be cleared for the start of the season.  Everyone is expected to attend practice regardless.

More Congratulations!!!

Last night was a night to be proud of as a member of the Point Boro Track & Field program.  The athletes that represented our school and our team performed against high level competition and performed at a high level themselves!

First, hats off to Katie!  Finishing 5th in the 3200 - in 11:19, an eleven second drop off her own school record - Katie guaranteed herself a spot in next Saturday's Meet of Champions!

But Katie was not the only athlete that performed well.  Robin hit a new PR in the high jump when she cleared 5-0 (4-12!), and she finished tied for 7th place!  Natalie and Cammie held their own in the pole vault as well, and Natalie also tied for 7th!  Both Robin and Natalie have decent shots to make it to the Meet of Champions, as wild card qualifiers...we'll have to wait and see.

On the boys side, Ryan worked through pain to match one of his best performances of the season, Dylan ran a 10 second winter PR in the 3200 (his second best 3200 of his life), and Nick also finished in 7th, with a chance to make MOC as a wild card.

Congrats to all those who competed last night - and thanks for making Point Boro look good!

Congratulations!!!

Way to go to all of our State Meet Qualifiers!  Can't wait to see you all in action next Friday!

Robin 4-10 in the High Jump!
Natalie 9-0 in the Pole Vault!
Cammie 8-6 in the Pole Vault!
Katie 11:30 in the 3200!

Hard luck last night for some of our other top athletes who were so close to making it - KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!!  Remember, everyone will have a "Last Chance" at our meet on Wednesday.  Get hungry!  We will continue to train up until Friday, February 20.  Stay tuned for announcements regarding our end of the season Awards Night and uniform collection.

Practice Cancelled Monday

I hope everyone made it home safely.  By now you are all aware that there is no practice today, Monday 1/26.  Currently, tomorrow looks like a loss, too.  And hopefully we'll be back at it on Wednesday.  What to do?

A couple of suggestions for how to spend the next couple of days...
1 - Get fully healthy if you've been achy/sore...rest, stretch, ice, etc.
2 - Do an indoor core/ab workout:  include push-ups, various planks and crunches, dips, stairs, hops, etc...be creative!
3 - Run on a treadmill (30 minutes).
4 - Walk to your gym and get a workout...if you have one, and if it's open, and if it's safe to travel.

It would not be a total loss if you had to miss 2 days, but as the season winds down, you certainly want to take advantage of the limited time that you have.  There will not be many more days to build your fitness, in order to lower your times...and several of you have seen your times even out.  Stay motivated!  Hope to see you soon!

BTW...most of you will get to compete at Sectionals on Friday 2/6, and ALL of you will get to compete at the Last Chance Meet on Wednesday 2/11.

Mid-Terms Week

Ladies!!

Good luck on your Mid-Terms this week!  Study hard, I know you'll do great!

With that all said, it looks like this week will be a scheduling mess with all of the snow that is forecasted.  I know you will all handle it as well as you have handled every other adversity that you have faced this season.  As far as our team goes, I will keep in contact with you one way or the other and I will continue to update this site with any schedule changes.

Good luck!!!

Healthy Eating Tips

Here is a great article that I just saw shared.  It might take a couple of looks to really take in everything...or maybe just look it over for the big concepts:  portion control, salads, nuts, smoothies, baking, etc.  And then refer back to it as situations arise.  A definite "bookmark" for sure.

A Cautionary Tale

Here is an article that someone forwarded to me about the dangers of using social media sites irresponsibly.  Remember, you never know who is looking at your posts, tweets, and pics...and you can never take these things back.  They live on the internet FOREVER.  Recruiters, employers, colleges, and anyone else you hope to impress in life will be looking and making judgments.  Definitely worth a few minutes to read...

Performance List

Amazing job today, ladies!!!  I am so pumped about today's meet and even moreso thinking ahead to what else we can do!  Today we had quite a few girls hit some personal bests and of course those school records!  But we also had quite of few girls earn their Varsity Letters.  That's a link with the full details for earning a letter, but in short, today some of you earned a letter for earning a medal in a Varsity race, for setting a school record, or for achieving one of the standard marks for your event.  Also, the top 3 in each event at the end of the season earn a letter, so I put a record of our top 3 in each event on the right hand side, toward the bottom of the site.

HERE is the link for the Winter Performance List.  In future, you can always find this link under the "Running Links" tab on the right had side of the site.

Congrats again on a great day!  Though I am glad to have gotten home much earlier, I must say, you are a great group to spend a day with!  Thanks for the positive vibes and good times!
